Ellucian Banner SIS Integration 

The integration gives Academic/Domain Schedulers tools to place each class in an appropriate location and schedule it at a time that satisfies departmental and instructor requirements. It syncs data from your Ellucian Banner environment into EMS. You can manage room assignments, optimize course schedules, and view or schedule events around courses.

Prerequisites

  • You must have one of the following EMS Higher Ed packages:

    • EMS Campus Core

    • EMS Campus Connect

  • You need an active subscription and active environment to Ellucian Ethos.

  • You also need an Ethos API key.

An authorized administrator at your institution must sign in to the Ellucian Ethos Integration platform, create an application, and generate the key. For API Key permissions reach out to your Accruent representative.

Configure the SIS Integration

EMS Platform Services Admin UI

  1. In EMS Platform Services (https://[your_domain].com/platform/admin#), open SIS Integrations.

  2. Select Banner as the SIS system. If the integration is active, select Disable SIS Integration to edit the URL fields.

  3. In Banner URL, enter https://integrate.elluciancloud.com/.

  4. In Banner API, enter your API key.

  5. Select Enable SIS Integration to activate the connection. To turn off, select Disable SIS Integration.

In the EMS Desktop Client

Verify the following parameters:

  1. Set Use Platform Services for connection to Student Information System to Yes.

  2. Set Determines which type of Student Information System is in use to Banner.

Banner migration tool

If you use Campus Web Service to import data from Ellucian Banner, use this tool to migrate rooms, buildings, subjects, and instructors for current and future terms in EMS.

  1. Go to the Banner Migration tab.

  2. Click Begin.

  3. After the comparison completes, the system displays the following values:

    • Table Name: The name of the table.

    • Total Records Mapped: Number of records from Ellucian Ethos that match data already in the EMS Database.

    • Unmapped IDs: Displays the database table IDs of records in the EMS database that didn’t match any records from Ellucian Ethos.

  4. Contact Accruent Support to determine whether the unmapped IDs require a mapping in Ellucian Ethos. To download or share the data, select Download CSV. The system downloads a .csv file to your computer.

  5. If you need to make changes, select Refresh data to update the mappings in EMS.

  6. If you don’t need to make changes, select Proceed with migration to commit the mappings to the database.

The system updates all tables with new IDs and replaces values in the SISID field with GUIDs from Banner. Set Use Platform Services for connection to Student Information System to Yes and stop the Campus Web Service to prevent duplicate records.

The integration will sync data from the following data tables:

  • Building

  • Room

  • Room Type

  • Subjects

  • Terms

  • Instructors

  • Course Types

  • Courses

  • Course Dates

After you configure your Ellucian Banner Cloud integration, run the data synchronization.
